Common Yet Forbidden - The
Struggle, Bombworks Records
| This is, track after track, pure, extreme metal fury. The Struggle is the
second CD from Common Yet Forbidden. This American band plays fast paced metal with
shrieking and growling vocals. On one hand they are pretty good. They have interesting
sounds and melodies, great riffs and quite well played guitar solos. The production of The
Struggle is good as well. On the other hand, track after the track the band offers the
same. There's not much variety. No big surprises. This is 100% blazing metal fury. No
acoustic intros or intermezzos, no slower parts or clean vocals or something that might
stick out. Is this a pity? Perhaps not. Common Yet Forbidden does what they are good at
and makes The Struggle a very well constructed metal album that a lot of extreme metal
fans will love. If you are in need of a shot of adrenaline, this is your band. A bit more
variety would help to make the power of this band stand out a bit more and enable the
