Exhale - Blind, Dark Balance
| Exhale plays grindcore and death metal. They're from Sweden and debuted
in 2006 with Prototype. Now they've joined the Dutch label Dark Balance for the release of
the follow-up album Blind. This is music for a selected few. None of these songs will ever
enter the airplay charts of pop music stations. What you get is extreme metal with
thundering rhythms, some ultrafast drumming and various extreme vocal styles, ranging from
very deep growls to higher screams not unlike vocals used in hardcore punk. It's a lot of
noise. The songs are one or two minutes long. At first it may seem all the songs are
exactly the same. But the more you listen to it, the more you'll find there's variety. The
last part of Fools can even be classified as hardcore punk and Turning Blind ends with a
doomier approach. Personally I can appreciate the quality of the music, the tightness of
the drumming, though this is absolutely not my favorite kind of music. This is a band that
reminds me what extreme is all about in extreme metal. Blind is explosive material. |
