Fountain Of Tears - Fate

Line

Here's a band with experienced musicians, with roots in thrash metal: drummer Joey Daub (Believer), guitarist Mike Didonato and bassist Erik Ney (both were in Sacrament, the latter for some time in Sardonyx as well). The band pictures show four guys and a girl who look like they are willing to play some tasty, aggressive and even gothic metal. In that respect Fate is disappointing. Fountain Of Tears is a different band compared to the aforementioned: Musically and production wise. Musically this stuff can be described as female fronted rock music with a lot of atmosphere. The guitar sound gives the music a metal edge, but Fate is produced with lots of keyboards. In fact, the keyboards (often with a piano-like sound to them) are quite dominant in a lot of songs. The vocalist, Vonnie King, is not another opera-oriented singer like we've seen a lot in Europe (think of Within Temptation and Nightwish). Her voice is rather more pop and rock oriented, though not very powerful. Is the music bad? No, not at all. In fact, Fate has some decent rock music, with lots of atmosphere. To my taste, however, it might be a bit rougher, darker and speedier at times though. A lot of the songs sound much the same.
