Heel - Chaos And Greed, CM Sweden/Rivel Records
Evil Days, the Heel debut, was a collection of melodic metal tunes. It
was not bad at all, but had too much repetition. With Chaos And Greed this Swedish band
has moved on. Still you can hear melodic metal with frequently repeated choruses. It's
easy accessible music that you can sing along to if you like. But at least it's not
overdone this time. Great keyboard and guitar solos decorate the songs. Some of the stuff
is slower (Did You Know) or more uptempo, in the power metal vein (Taste Of Steel).
Sometimes there are progressive metal influences. The length of the songs vary from almost
four minutes to over six minutes. The production is quite good with a mix that displays
each instrument as it should be. Heel is your band if you like good melodic metal with a
touch of progressive and power metal. All songs are nice to listen to, though none of them
sticks out. But if I would have to pick out a favorite, it's probably Did You Know.
Apparantly repeating works: Can't get the chorus out of my head... Listen to Heel on myspace. |
