Immortal Souls - Wintereich, Dark Balance
Immortal Souls has switched over to another label again. The Finnish
inventors of the so-called wintermetal have come back with the follow-up to Ice Upon The
Night (2003) that was released by Fear Dark. Now they are with Dark Balance. They may have
swopped labels but, as the track titles show, they haven't strayed away from their
winterly sounds, with tunes like Nightfrost, Frozen Inside, Icon Of Ice and Heart Of Cold.
The winterly cover image does the rest. Still you can expect very melodic metal with
speed, black and death metal elements, and with fierce guitar solos. A lot of this
material is up tempo or at least energetic. The songs are of an ideal length for a radio
deejay, between three and four and a half minutes, and they are often catchy. The
production is possibly their best. Sometimes there's too much similarity between songs
though. But who liked the previous albums can buy the new Immortal Souls without
hesitation. |
