Kashee Opeiah - Panic In
Solitude, Whirlwind Records
This could be an American band. Their raw metalcore reminds me of Norma
Jean when they were called Luti-Kriss. The album Panic In Solitude sounds like something
you'd expect to hear from a US label like Solid State Records. There's also a hint of
Callisto (in a song like After This Act Of Deliverance). The music is heavy, devoid of
melody, sometimes chaotic, and always evolving. Kashee Opeiah is not a band that writes
songs with the usual construction. Riffs are followed by other riffs and seldomly they
come back. No endlessly repeated choruses here. In fact, the songs don't seem to end but
simply melt together. Also the lyrics in the thick booklet seem to melt together. The
sound quality of this disc is very good, as well as the mix. The absence of choruses in
most of the songs combined with the always evolving music, doesn't make this disc easy
accessible. The hand written lyrics in the booklet are hard to read. If it wasn't for the
accent in the clean vocal parts, you wouldn't guess this band comes from Germany. Take
that as a compliment. |
