Mass - Crack Of Dawn, Escape Music
Mass may sound like a new name. But this name dates back from the early
eighties. Mass started out as a promising metal band and recorded a debut in 1982 that
never came out. They eventually released some albums and scored a few small hit songs in
the mid eighties and had an album produced by Michael Sweet of Stryper. Mass returned in
2000 with a best-of album containing two new songs. Then they recorded two more songs with
Michael Sweet in 2002. Now the band comes up with a full new album, the first since 1988.
This time they play raw hard rock with an occasional guitar solo, though they are not of
the lengthy sort but mesh well with the entirety of each song. Crack Of Dawn has solid and
melodic rock to offer, containing recognisable choruses. The vocals vary from gentle to
raw to a form of shouting. Some of these tunes have nice hooks, making them stick in your
mind, like It's You, Someday and Who Am I. Good stuff! |
