ReinXeed - Higher, CM Sweden/Rivel Records
| Higher is the second album from ReinXeed. They serve you ten lightfeeted
power metal songs. Put this CD in your player when you're in a bad mood and are in need of
some cheering up. Higher is a feelgood album. Rotate the disc and your mood will improve
immediately. This is your thing when you appreciate uptempo music, with lots of keyboards,
fast guitar picking, harmonic vocals and occasionally high pitched singing. Sometimes you
hear a melody or a harmony that is faintly reminiscent of Abba, but played much faster.
And of course there are touches of classical music. And then I musn't forget to mention
the well played guitar solos, sometimes with a lot of feeling, often real fast with lots
of pivots and scale racing. Light Of The World has some real cool solos. The album Higher
is better than the predecessor, which had a few very good songs, and a few less
interesting ones. On the new album it's harder to pick out the highlights, as the average
level has gone up. Is it all good? No. A couple of times the vocals are weak, almost out
of tune. Not that singer Tommy Johansson is a bad vocalist, just listen to Light Of The
World again to verify. The production is improved though, making the rhythm guitars
clearer in the mix. It's best to listen to this album at full volume. This is music that
demands your attention. Sing along, get your stiff legs moving, let your hair fly and have
