ReinXeed is the brainchild of Tommy Johansson who learned to play guitar
at the age of nine. Since he also learned to sing, play piano, drums, bass and flute. As a
one man band he created his first music. Now he has a full band called ReinXeed. This is
power metal with lots of positive energy. Maybe you can best describe it as a lighter
version of DragonForce or Thy Majestie. The vocals vary from mid range to high pitched.
ReinXeed is a welcome addition to the Rivel Records roster. Though this label has a lot of
melodic metal bands, none sounds like ReinXeed. Songs like The Light, Legacy, Great Hall
Of ReinXeed and the instrumental Heavenly Fire sound pretty cool with lots of great hooks
and melodies. And then there are all these nice guitarsolos! The music sounds even better
when played at full volume. This is stuff to get in a happy mood, to energize your day.
Tommy Johansson is a fairly good singer, though some of his higher notes sound like it's
almost too much for him. The mix could be better at times as well. The rhythm guitar
sounds too far away in the mix, while vocals, bass, drums and keyboards/piano are clear.
The Light isn't an album that will change the world - all this has been done before - but
the outcome is cool nonetheless.
