Scelerata - Darkness And Light, Nightmare Records
Scelerata is a Brasilian progressive (power) metal band. Darkness And
Light is their 2006 debut, although the album was recorded in 2005. Quality wise this
effort doesn't underdo the albums from most top bands in this scene. After a short intro
track the aggressive Holy Fire is unleashed with some galopping riffs. There are quite
some good tracks on this CD. The musicianship is great. Not only do the guitar players to
a good job with tight riffs and luxurious solos (for example in The Spell of Time and
Adonai), also the other musicians know how to play their instruments. Vocalist Carl
Casagrande is fairly good, though not spectacular. His clean vocals fit the music and that
counts most. Quite suprising is Endless as it has an accordion solo. You'll have to hear
it to believe how well it sounds. Darkness And Light is not a groundbreaking release for
the genre, but a fine product nonetheless. |
