Stonefuze - Stonefuze, Rivel Records
Stonefuze is the Swedish band formerly known as Cornerstone (formed in
1989). They were not the only group named Cornerstone. According to their bio, the band
decided to the name change as they wanted to mark a new era. In fact, this is their first
album in ten years. The blues rock of the past is replaced by gritty heavy rock/hard rock
with a biker rock attitude. These guys must be motor bike fanatics, as is shown by a song
like Motor Music. Vocalist Kent Franklin sings: "God loves motor music!" Their
previous album was called Jesus Rides Harley Too (1998). The titleless album has a good
eighties feel about it, yet with a modern sound. Raw. And that fits with the equally raw
vocal delivery. The production and mix are fine. Not all the songs are good, as they don't
stick out, but the overall impression is okay. The aforementioned Motor Music is nicely
plodding on, while its simple chorus sticks in your memory. Redeemer is a good track too.
You can hear that the musicians are well experienced in playing rock music. Listen to
them on myspace. |
