Thy Majestie - Dawn, Dark Balance
Ten years after establishing Thy Majestie, the founding members Claudio
Diprima and Dario D'Alessandro return with a new line-up and a new sound. In early 2007
the new vocalist Dario Dascio and guitarist Simone Campione joined this Italian power
metal group. The first record with the new line-up kicks off with the uptempo and catchy
As You Fall. Cascio isn't the world's most impressive singer, but he does a good job on
the song. In the fourth track (The Hunt) there's probably a different singer as the
vocalist sounds like a Jorn Lande soundalike. The vocal delivery is much rawer and more
bombastic than Cascio's lighter voice. Dawn contains a mix of classic metal and power
metal with some very nice melodies, great guitar solos, quite some double bass drumming
and atmospheric keyboard playing and soloing. These guys are talented. The music isn't
revolutionary or progressive/innovative, but very good nonetheless. Some of the better
tracks are The Hunt, To An Endless Devotion, Two Minutes Hate and Out The Edge. Fans of
powerful melodic metal should at least check out this release. |
