World To Ashes - Of What There Is
To Come, Whirlwind Records
| Of What There Is To Come is the debut EP from a new German death metal
band. They hail from Freiburg, the same city that brought us Acoustic Torment in the past.
One of the former Acoustic Torment members joined World To Ashes. This new group plays
modern death metal with lots of metalcore influences, especially by using breakdowns. The
vocals vary from a growl to a shriek. The influence from a band like As I Lay Dying is
evident in songs like From Dust Into Haze and Path Of Uncertainty. But World To Ashes
doesn't sound as great. Anyway, this is a nice debut anyway. It won't change the world,
but it is good as a starting point of what is probably to come... World To Ashes is one
of the bands booked for the Fear Dark Festival 2008. |
